Did you know that:
- £5 will buy 3 meals for someone who is sleeping rough.
- £10 pays for a bed for the night.
- £25 is what it costs for someone to work with a person struggling with homelessness to help them claim the benefits they are owed and find more long term accommodation.
- £47 pays for emergency accommodation for a week.
Regular or one-off donations of money are vital to us continuing our work.
We strive to keep our Day Centre open from early morning until the evening, 7 days a week. A safe space which is life-saving, particularly during hot, summer days or bitterly cold and wet winter months.
We are a charity and the services we offer are expensive to maintain.
Our commercial kitchen provides hundreds of hot meals a week, subsidised or free to those with no money.
We employ specialist members of staff, who have the skills and compassion to support clients in their journey out of homelessness.
We aim to keep our buildings, bedrooms and emergency beds in the best possible condition. We want people to come into spaces which are clean, well maintained and welcoming.
To do all of this we need your support.

Fundraising supports the day-to-day running costs. It also helps us develop and improve our service.
Our current Development Priorities include…
- A Medical Clinic. Working with CAVHIS - The Cardiff and Vale Health Inclusion Service - we are looking to fund and develop a clinical space within our Centre. This will be used by GPs, Nurses, Dentists and other health specialists. Approximate cost £20,000.
- Developing our Kitchen and Catering service. We provide three meals a day in the centre, as well as food for all our accommodation. The diets of people sleeping rough is usually very poor - which is why it's important for us to provide them with the nutrients they require to regain their health. Partnering with the Cardiff Food Network, our Kitchen and Catering service is funded by us and costs around £100,000 a year to operate.
- Our Skills and Employment service. Working with Agored Cymru, we are developing a skills programme alongside pathways into work for clients. Getting people into employment is one of the most powerful outcomes for helping individuals out of homelessness. We are establishing a fund to support clients to obtain qualifications and take those first steps into employment.
Laundry facilities are available in the centre, however, we may not see some clients every day and they could require a fresh set of clothing on their next visit. When selecting a new outfit, we want it to be as pleasurable an experience as possible. We hang items up on rails to keep them neat and crease-free and let people choose what they want.
We can only accept toiletries in unopened packaging – ideally travel sized as clients don’t have much storage space, particularly if living on the streets.
We ask that toiletries are unused for two reasons – hygiene and respect for the individual.
Imagine how you’d feel if you were given a stranger’s half used bar of soap or can of deodorant? It certainly wouldn’t make you feel good about yourself!
Thank you for your understanding. Please click here for more details of our current wishlist.
We are very fortunate to have arrangements with Fareshare and other providers to supply us with the fresh and other foodstuff we require. As a result, we rarely accept extra donations of food.
