Our Chief Executive, Richard Edwards, and Sofia Boczec, Substance Misuse Responder, have been awarded the AACE (Association of Ambulance Chief Executives) Commemorative Coin. It was in recognition for their work volunteering with the ambulance service, providing an emergency response to Huggard clients.

Richard was also awarded the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal, which is presented to front line emergency service staff and volunteers who’ve completed five years service.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal is a token of the nation’s thanks and follows a long history of awarding medals to mark Royal Jubilees, with the first one presented to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Queen Victoria’s reign in 1887.

Richard Edwards said “These awards recognise Huggard’s First Responders, working with the Welsh Ambulance Service, but we also recognise that this is part of wider Huggard services where our frontline staff work tirelessly, everyday, to meet the health, social care, accommodation and practical needs of people experiencing homelessness by providing a full range of vital help and support. I’m proud to be part of Team Huggard.”

Richard and Sofia are pictured with their coins and medal which were presented when they attended their annual CPD training as First Responders with the Welsh Ambulance Service. Also in the photo (middle) is Jenny Wilson, National Volunteer Manager with the Welsh Ambulance Service Trust.
