The Emergency Bed Unit (EBU)

Consisting of 20 Bedrooms and 3 shared lounges. Each service user is given a single room and is allocated with 2 Key Workers. The EBU is vacated each morning at 9am and is re-opened at 5pm.

The Day Centre

The Day Centre is open throughout the day and evening, 7 days a week. Monday – Friday 9am – 9pm, Saturday & Sunday 9am – 5pm. We operate an open door policy and aim to turn no one away. We offer free soup and bread and meals at a subsidised price, we also have support workers on hand offering advice to all service users.

Huggard’s 14 Houses

Huggard runs 14 shared supported accommodation in and around the city of Cardiff. Each tenant is allocated a support worker, the aim of the project is to support tenants and prepare them for independent living. 3 of these houses are part of our Huggard Helping Hands scheme. These are for tenants returning to work and who are taking the transition to fully independent living.

Tenant Support

Huggard is a Contracted Support Provider for the Tenant Support Scheme in Cardiff. The Tenant Support Scheme provides housing related support to vulnerable adults to help them maintain their tenancies/accommodation and live independently. The Tenant Support Scheme is managed by Cardiff Council's Tenant Support Team and provides individual support packages funded by Welsh Assembly Government Supporting People Revenue Grant funding.

Winter Night Centre

During the colder months November – March our Day Centre re-opens 10pm each night to allow up to 12 people to use the centre, people who would otherwise be sleeping rough. Priority is given to couples and people with dogs.

User Development Programme

We employ a User Development Officer and their main job is to encourage our service users to participate in training, education and employment.

Advocacy Project

We employ a full time Advocate. This Officer works closely with other service providers across Cardiff, assisting clients and covering a full range of issues such as benefits, physical and mental health issues, housing and support.

Substance Misuse Project

Huggard's Substance Misuse Development Officer works with a wide range of substance misusers initially helping them to engage in treatment without necessarily requiring a high level of commitment to more structured programmes or a complex or lengthy assessment process. This is achieved through both in-house service development and also through maximising opportunities to work in partnership with external agencies and treatment providers.
